Have you ever wanted to watch the sun come up whilst sitting on top of a mountain in the Lake District?
Join me on a fully guided walk up one of the Lake Districts finest fells for Spring bank holiday sunrise. We will be walking pre dawn in the dark by head torch, to get to the summit in time for sunrise. Where you will, weather permitting, be able to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the Lakland fells.
This is not necessarily a photography workshop, but I will be on hand to give any help if required.
The meeting point will be Keswick at 1.30am for a briefing and kit check. From here we will go to our starting point in the Grisedale forest and start our walk around 2.30 am, with the aim to reach the summit in time for the 5am sunrise. After taking in the sunrise and getting some photos, we will head on around to Hopegill Head, where we will descend back into the forest and back to the cafe for a breakfast.
We will be covering around 12km and about 500 meters of ascent over mountain terrain, so a good general level of fitness is required. Whilst we won’t be rushing or heading up anything too steep, you will need a reasonable amount of hill walking fitness. Good walking boots and waterproofs required as is a rucksack. I can provide you with a head torch if you don’t have one. I will send a kit list upon booking.
Guided by myself, a qualified mountain leader and holder of the Rescue Emergency Care first aid certificate.
£30 per person.
NB: This walk will require a minimum of three people to go ahead, and a maximum group size of 6. In the unlikely event the walk is unable to go ahead, due to adverse weather conditions, you will be offered the choice of an alternative date, or a full refund.
