Attended camera workshop Friday 10th May at Wasdale. Throughly recommend Mark. Very knowledgable, took time explaining things. Route walked was great. Had every weather system possible (sunshine, cloud, wind, hailstorm, rain). Great bloke. Would attend another guided walk, mountain workshop in future. 👍

“I must admit that I felt out of my depth when I signed up to Mark Gamblin's Buttermere Workshop, as I'd had little experience of photography other than 'point and shoot', usually via a smartphone camera. We began with an hour-long tutorial where Mark gave us a tour of our respective cameras' features, with a particular emphasis on aperture priority mode and how it all links in to landscape photography. This session was brilliantly crafted, as Mark had taken masses of information (camera instruction manuals are NOT user friendly!) and condensed it down into a more manageable format. This helped with both
the understanding and retention of the information. So far, so good (excellent, in fact!). We then headed out to put all this new information into action and, personally speaking, achieving some good results. Mark was aware that the course participants were at different levels of knowledge and ability, but that wasn't an issue, as he was able to assist and feedback individually throughout the day, which he seemed to be managing effortlessly, but I'm certain can't have been so easy. While the weather wasn't on our side, it didn't detract from the aim of the course, or the overall enjoyment of the day. The course finished with a session on Adobe Lightroom which was, again, a first for me. Later on at home, I uploaded a few of the images and applied the skills I'd learned earlier in the day, with, I think, a more-than-decent results! Would I recommend a day (or night) learning photography from
Mark Gamblin? If you've read the above, I don't need to answer that question, do I? Otherwise: 100%,10/10, Five Stars, First Class... take your pick.”

“I attend one of Mark's workshops in Buttermere in March 2019, and, apart from ordering the wrong weather, it was a great day. Beforehand he asked participants to bring camera, batteries, SD card, tripod lenses and instruction manuals. We had a one hour tutorial in the cafe which was pitched just right, and helped us to set our cameras correctly, and then out to take photos. Mark was very patient with each of us, and although we were all using different equipment, and came with very different experiences we all got something from it. I personally learnt about placing items in the foreground rather than just looking at the hills, focusing to keep everything sharp, and getting down low! Once back in the cafe he explained software elements for taking what looked a flat RAW file into something amazing, just by tweaking the whites, shadows etc. and keeping an eye on the histogram! a very me thing for me! A great day out, and can highly recommend for both beginners and more experienced photographers too who want to make their shots more special”
