Wild Camping Astrophotography Workshop

Friday and Saturday 3/4 May 2019

Designed with the adventurous avid night sky photographer in mind, this workshop will see us venturing high into the Lakeland fells and sleeping under the stars, where you will be taught how to capture the true beauty of the night sky.

Before heading out, we will look into the techniques and methods I use for planning and preparing the perfect night sky shot, as well as basic camp craft skills. Out on the hill you will learn things such as; how to compose the best shot and how to focus your camera in low light, the general aspects of long exposure photography and capturing the detail in the Milky Way. We'll look at image stacking and making star trail shots, and generally have a great night out in the hills.

With only two spaces available on this workshop, you'll have as much one-to-one tuition time as possible. Additionally, this will help us to minimize our effect on the environment.

You should already have some understanding of the exposure triangle, and be able to use your camera in manual/semi manual modes. A tripod is essential, and the fastest wide angle lens you have (e.g. 14mm f2.8).

Camping gear (such as a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and cooking gear) is included, if required.

Price: £75 per person. A non refundable deposit of £25 is required upon booking (unless the workshop doesn’t go ahead due to adverse weather conditions or acts of God) then the remaining balance is due 1 week before the workshop.

Please feel free to contact me for any further information.

NB: The meeting point for this workshop is Keswick. Weather conditions mean that the exact location of the camp will be decided a few days prior to the event, and may be subject to change.
In the unlikely event the workshop is unable to go ahead, due to adverse weather conditions, you will be offered the choice of an alternative date, or a full refund.
